Tommy Lynn Turner, Sr, of Crosby, Texas was born on June 01, 1935 in Waco, Texas to the late Thomas Lorenzo Turner and Mary Louise Turner and passed away peacefully on April 25, 2024 surrounded by family.  Tommy grew up in Bedias, Texas.  While in high school, Tommy was very active in basketball and graduated in the top 5 of his class.  Shortly after high school, Tommy joined the Navy during the Korean War and proudly served his country.  While in the navy, he worked as a welder and received his certification.  The ship’s assignment was to transport soldiers back home from the war.  While in the Navy, he met the love of his life, JoAnn Taylor.  Tommy served four years in active duty and 5 years in the reserves.

Tommy retired from Arco, where he worked in various capacities in the MEK Unit for more than 22 years retiring as a supervisor.  He also owned and operated Turner Trailer Works for more than 50 years.

His hobby and passion was welding.  Tommy was also passionate in helping people and serving his communities of Crosby, Barrett Station, and Huffman.  He was an honorary Chapter Member of the Crosby and Huffman FFA clubs, and coached little league for several years when his sons played baseball.  He was the Crosby Sports Association President for five years and during that time, he managed the Crosby Street Dances to raise money for Little Leagues.

Tommy loved Jesus, music (especially Southern Gospel), and jokes.  Tommy loved helping people from all walks of life because he always felt blessed.  He always had a smile and a joke.  He attended Baytown First Church of the Nazarene for over 56 years where he served on the church board, served as the Head Trustee, Ushered, and was involved as a Sunday School Attendance and finance worker.  He attended the Cathedral Of Praise Church every third Friday night for over 14 years.  He also attended the Northeast Freeway Baptist Church for 3 years in the evening services.

Tommy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Louise Turner, his siblings, Shirley Garrett, Jimmy Turner, Joe Turner, and two grandsons Michael Turner and Steven Turner.
